Interesting presentations in addition to the new awards for excellence
The XXVI CIS 2024 Congress and Awards brought together the most renowned health professionals on the American continent this year. For two days they held a meeting that was divided into two days. In the first, the conferences were held, among which, for Colombia, that of Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys stood out.
The general director of the spa-type clinic Sonrisa Perfecta Dental offered attendees her presentation “Modern dentistry at the height of new times. In her talk she talked about the advances that are already present in her clinic, such as, for example, LANAP® technology.
LANAP® is the acronym, translated into Spanish, for ‘laser-assisted new attachment procedure’ and is considered an important advance in periodontal treatment. Approved by the FDA/ADA, it consists of the use of lasers to eliminate periodontal diseases without the use of conventional surgical instruments. Without the need for scalpels and sutures, diseased tissue and bacteria in patients can be removed.
She also talked about laser technology and how this resource is used to treat periodontal pathologies with minimally invasive, effective and safe procedures. Another dental advance that Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys spoke about is related to the development of new materials for oral implantology. She highlighted that all these innovative resources are aimed at ensuring the greatest well-being of the patient.
Other important talks
Professionals from Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Chile and Mexico spoke at the meeting. The doctors talked about topics such as the psycho-geriatric patient, the approach to hepatitis and primary health care. There were also presentations on advances in breast surgery and bioethics.
Other Colombian doctors spoke about specific topics such as Molecular Convergence and cortical basal implantology as a dental solution. Finally, on the second day, the awards were held, among which the honor received by Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys stood out. There the renowned expert received the new awards for excellence.
Honorable mention for excellent exhibition
At the end of the event, the organizers of the meeting and the representatives of the
CIS decided to award Dr. Tarsys Loayza Roys an honorable mention. This other award was due to her excellent presentation, which she stood out because she offered an overview of what is current and what is coming for dentistry. Those present showed particular interest in knowing details of the research on new medications that could replace implants.
It is a new drug being developed in Japan and its action is based on an antibody that blocks the gene that encodes the production of the USAG-1 protein. This is produced naturally in the body and suppresses the growth of teeth after a certain age.
When the medication is applied, it acts as an antibody that neutralizes this protein that is present, allowing the anti-tooth germ antigen to be synthesized. In addition, the supplied medication or ANTI USAG-1 antibody allows the stimulation of other proteins that stimulate the growth of new teeth and adjacent tissues.
These teeth would come from a third chain of teeth that humans have and that in healthy patients does not develop precisely due to the presence of the USAG-1 protein. Given this process of immunological origin, the aim is to determine dental expression, but it is sought to achieve it naturally so as not to hinder the functionality and aesthetics of the permanent teeth, which belong to the subsequent chain.
Dr. Loayza Roys asserted that she, as well as dentists around the world, are very aware of the work that is being developed. The research, which will begin its human trial phase this year, is being carried out by the Japanese laboratory Toregem BioPharma.
“We will be looking forward to such an excellent in vitro and live procedure and conduct. This would contribute enormously to patients suffering from congenital diseases and would also be an essential contribution of high connotation in modern medicine. “Modern Dentistry continues to be at the forefront of the world”! she assured. “And those of us who work with passion in search of Excellence are proud of this,” concluded Dr. Tarsys Loayza with her masterful presentation.
